The Instituto Interagir, contracted by Infrater Engenharia, carried out the Arborean Census of the municipality, which aims to identify and catalog the species and quantify those that are already planted in the urban area on sidewalks, squares and parks. The Census also shows the phytosanitary conditions of these trees and whether the sidewalks where they are located are appropriate for the species planted. 

As part of the same survey, technicians gathered data on the species and also identified on which sidewalks there are no trees planted. Residents are approached to identify if there is interest in planting any species, which is suitable for the type of sidewalk.

“This approach work has been done on sidewalks longer than 2 meters, where the presence of trees is not identified. The service is free of charge to the resident. Based on the interest expressed, a form is filled out and planting is scheduled. The resident also receives technical information about the care to be taken with the species to be planted. With this, we aim to ensure that Ipatinga continues to be a national reference in afforestation. In addition to involving the population in the program for the recovery of degraded areas to help us care for and maintain our green spaces”, comments the secretary of Urban Services and Environment, Gilmar Luciano Alves.
